What is Granite?

Granite is a natural stone and is quarried from dozens of countries around the world. As granite is a natural stone, there can be natural pit marks or hairline cracks in the stone; patterns and colour vary from slab to slab also.  These natural variations ensure a uniqueness not found in other natural stones. For this reason it is always recommended to view the full slab on selecting your granite worktop.

Advantages of Granite

Superior strengthHigh heat resistantHighly scratch resistant

Anti-Stain (Dry Treat) – 15 YEAR WARRANTYApplied to every granite worktop is stain repellent. When the worktop is manufactured a coat of sealer is applied. Once the worktop is fitted a second coat is applied again. A bottle of Rejuvenata spray (473ml) is left with each customer which is a cleaner and sealer in one.

Dry Treat is used for water and oil repellent and grease resistant treatment of polished stone. The product is weather –resistant, non-yellowing impregnation based on silicone which is effective for years. After hardening the product is harmless to health upon contact with food products.

What do I require before my worktops can be measured?

All the kitchen units need to be fixed & in place. Both the sink & hob need to be on site when measuring also.

How to care for granite or quartz?

Cleaning
Use as little soap as possible. Washing-up liquid or non-abrasive kitchen cleaner is sufficient to clean the surface. Dry off well with a clean cloth.
Hot items
We do not advise that very hot pots or pans be placed onto the worktop, the use of a heat resistant plate is recommended.
Chopping / Cutting
The use of a chopping board is advisable as the granite may cause your utensils to become blunt or you may scratch the polished surface.

Is granite and quartz is heat and scratch proof ?

GRANITE & QUARTZ ARE HEAT & SCRATCH RESISTANT, NOT HEAT & SCRATCH PROOF

When should I get my plumber to plumb up my sink after the worktops are fitted?

Your plumber should plumb up your sink the day after the stone worktops are fitted to allow time for the glue to set around your sink.
